Doctor greets and introduces himself

How to greet a patient at the counter.

You will learn 5 to 6 phrases. Write in down or paste in on the wall for easy reference. If possible, record your own voice over in Arabic Language.

Whenever a patient visits a hospital or clinic, these are some of the survivor phrases you need to say. 

Let us observe a scenario:

The counter is a busy place and fast pace; you really have no time to call in the interpreter. at that point your skill in essential Arabic saves you the day. 

patient: Good morning- Sobahul khair

customer service: Good morning. Sobahul nur

customer service: Your identity card-Bethoqa syaksiyah

please-lau samahat

What service? -Ayya khidmah

patient: I am sick-Ana mareed

I want to see the doctor-Oreed leqat doktoor

Essential phrase

“Marhaban, ana ad-duktoor [Name].” → “Hello, I am Dr. [Name].”

“Kayfa haluk/haluki?” → “How are you?”

“Ma ismuk(m)/ismuki(f)?” → “What is your name?”

“Shukran.” → “Thank you.”

“Ma‘a as-salama.” → “Goodbye.”

Simple sentence

Medical Dialogues

Doctor: مَرْحَبًا، أَنَا الدُّكْتُور عَلِي. كَيْفَ حَالُكْ؟
(Marhaban, ana ad-duktoor Ali. Kayfa haluk?)
“Hello, I am Dr. Ali. How are you?”

Patient (Male): أَهْلًا، أَنَا بِخَيْر. شُكْرًا.
(Ahlan, ana bikhayr. Shukran.)
“Hi, I’m fine. Thank you.”

Doctor: مَا اسْمُكْ؟
(Ma ismuk?)
“What is your name?”

Patient: اسْمِي أَحْمَد.
(Ismi Ahmad.)
“My name is Ahmad.”

Doctor: تَفَضَّلْ، اجْلِسْ مِنْ فَضْلِك.
(Tafaddal, ijlis min fadlik.)
“Please, have a seat.”
